Matthew arrived in Phoenix, Arizona, in October 2025 on a temporary work assignment and stayed at an Airbnb in Litchfield Park. Shortly after arriving, by a remarkable coincidence, he met Andrea, who lived just two minutes away. Andrea had moved to Arizona from Obregón, Mexico, in 2024 and works as an elementary school teacher.

Practically neighbors, they quickly found any excuse to spend time together. What was meant to be a three-week visit extended to five, then six weeks, as they grew closer through late-night conversations and by allowing themselves to be truly seen. Paying no mind to the invisible clock counting down their time together, Andrea and Matthew continued to fall for one another.

With his departure approaching, Matthew followed his heart and accepted a permanent placement in Phoenix, choosing to start anew. Months passed—birthdays, holidays, and quiet evenings blending together—and their connection deepened. They moved in together, conversations about their future had less "if" and more "when", and both began dreaming of a long life together.
